At least 10 people were killed and 20 others were wounded Monday after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives at the gate of an Afghan police station in Kabul, officials said.
The attacker targeted a queue of young people waiting to enter the police building in Dehmazang district.
An eyewitness told Anadolu Agency he saw bodies scattered on the sidewalks and wounded people yelling for help.
Health Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ismail Kawoosi told Anadolu Agency that some of the injured are in critical condition.
The Taliban militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
“A Taliban suicide bomber killed and wounded nearly 40 soldiers in the Kabul attack,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said.
The attack comes amid international efforts to bring the Taliban and the Afghan government together for peace talks.
