The U.K.-based Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) announced on Saturday that 254 people, including 83 children and 42 women, had been killed by Russian airstrikes since Sept. 30, when Russian warplanes began striking targets in Syria.
According to the SNHR, the primary target of Russia’s ongoing air campaign has gradually shifted from the Daesh militant organization to armed opposition groups fighting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
“The Russians initially came to Syria to fight Daesh, but they have changed their policy day by day,” the NGO asserted.
