ADIYAMAN, Turkey
A Turkish soldier was martyred Thursday by PKK terrorists in the southeastern Adiyaman province.
In a statement, the Adiyaman Governor's Office said an improvised explosive planted in the road detonated when an armored vehicle carrying a gendarmerie team was en route to reinforce an ongoing operation in the central village of Kuyucak.
The soldier was martyred at the scene, it added.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. EU. In its terror campaign against Turkey, which has lasted for more than three decades, over 40,000 people have been killed, including women and children.
