CAIRO
Egyptian prosecution authorities ordered 26 Muslim Brotherhood leaders remanded in custody for a further 15 days pending investigation into charges that they had "incited violence," a judicial source said Tuesday.
The 26 all hail from the Nile Delta province of Daqahliya, the source told Anadolu Agency.
The men also face charges of blocking roads, disrupting traffic and resisting authorities, the source added.
Egyptian authorities have unleashed a massive crackdown on the Islamist group since the violent August 14 dispersal of two major sit-ins staged by supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi, a Brotherhood leader himself. Hundreds of pro-Morsi demonstrators were killed in the clampdown.
Hundreds of the group's high and mid-ranking members remain in detention on charges of "inciting violence" – allegations they say are politically-motivated.
