Economists, who participated in the "Foreign Trade Expectation Survey" of AA Finance, expect the foreign trade deficit in May in Turkey to be 10.4 billion USD.
The AA Finance published the results of "Foreign Trade Expectation Survey" four days ahead the TurkStat, Turkey's statistical authority is planning to announce foreign trade figures for May.
According to AA's survey participated by 13 economists, the foreign trade deficit in Turkey in May was expected to be 10.4 billion USD. Among the economists who have joined the AA survey, the maximum expected foreign trade deficit in May was 11.6 billion USD while the lowest expected foreign trade deficit in May was 9 billion USD.
On the other hand, those 13 economists predicted Turkey's exports in May to be worth 13.2 billion USD and imports 23.6 billion USD.
Ten economists who have participated in AA's survey said they expected the year-end foreign trade deficit in Turkey to be 96.1 billion USD.
Foreign trade deficit in Turkey in April 2013 went up 55.1 percent when compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 10.3 billion USD. In April, Turkey's exports were down 0.9 percent compared to the same period last year and noted 12.5 billion USD while imports went up 18.4 percent and reached a value of 22.8 billion USD.
In 2012, Turkey's total foreign trade deficit was recorded as 84 billion USD.
