ISTANBUL
Exchange of prisoners in the Syrian capital city of Damascus under the mediation of Turkey and Qatar was first announced by the Anadolu Agency (AA) to the world public opinion.
Bulent Yildirim, the Chairperson of the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, who is in Damascus to contribute to the exchange of prisoners, informed the AA reporter on every phase of the negotiations.
Yildirim said, "48 Iranian nationals have been released in Duma region of Damascus on Wednesday. In exchange, 2,130 people, including many women and children, are being transferred by buses after being kept at the Syrian Interior Ministry. Two of the four Turkish nationals at the hands of Assad forces have been released on Wednesday."
Meanwhile, Iran thanked Turkey, Qatar and Syria for their efforts in release of 48 Iranian citizens.
