The Anadolu Agency has succeeded in becoming a key brand in the international arena with the distribution of its photographs as part of its centennial vision of becoming one of the world’s top five news agencies by 2020.
As of July 2014, the number of the photographs the agency sold to prestigious international media agencies was five times greater than the number sold in 2013.
In addition, The Anadolu Agency, which is beginning to be rewarded for its efforts to break through in the international arena, has boosted the number of photos it publishes per day to 1,700. In 2011, the number was about 500.
The agency's photos, particulary those taken in the Middle East and Africa, have made remarkable progress in the attention they are receiving from global media.
Leading media agencies from the U.S., France, the U.K. and Germany -- including The Times, Paris-Match, Le Figaro, The New York Times, The Independent, The Guardian, Bild and the Huffington Post -- have used the agency's photos.
Also, the monthly income earned from the global sales with the agency's international partners has increased by 24 percent in each month of 2014. The rate of global sales grew by 197 percent between January and July.
- Agreement for video distribution
In May, The Anadolu Agency reached an agreement on video distribution with Getty Images to distribute video footage taken by AA cameramen throughout the world to international media outlets, social media and blogs.
In June, the agency attended for the second time an annual photo congress, organized in Berlin by the largest non-profit image rights association, CEPIC, and received new partnership offers from more than 50 international media agencies.
- Visa Pour l'Image2014
The Anadolu Agency will also participate for the first time in the Visa Pour l'Image 2014 Perpignan international photojournalism festival together with world’s leading news agencies and photojournalists.
The agency will have the opportunity of promoting "http://anadoluimages.com and Istanbul Photo Awards" to thousands of visitors at its booth during the festival, to be held from Sept. 1 to 7.
The agency, boasting broader global coverage, began marketing its photos thanks to an agreement signed with Getty Images in March, in addition to those with other leading photo agencies such as AFP ImageForum, DPA, Scanpix, Contacto and VI Images.
AA is already a well-established global news agency offering newswires in seven languages with operations spreading across major regions around the globe, including the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Asia-Pacific. It serves business customers in more than 100 countries.
