Anadolu Agency (AA) Director General & Executive Board Chairman Kemal Ozturk and AA's Turkey News Editor-in-chief Omer Eksi visited the border line in Bukulmez village of Reyhanli town in Turkey's southeastern Hatay province which is mainly used by Syrian citizens who cross in Turkey after fleeing the clashes in Syria.
Ozturk talked with Syrians who were waiting in the Syrian side of the border, and then visited Deputy Governor Mehmet Ercis at Cilvegozu border gate. He also visited the facilities in Yayladagi town where 2,800 Syrian Turkmens are staying in 510 tents.
Yayladagi Subgovernor Tolga Polat said that there were two tent sites in the town, and one of them was hosting Syrian Turkmens, adding that there were also an education tent comprised of 10 classrooms, playgrounds and a mosque as well as courses for women in the site.
Ozturk and Eksi, accompanied by Polat, visited social areas and talked with Syrian children in the tent site.
Ozturk visits container city
Ozturk and Eksi visited Kilis Governor Suleyman Tapsiz who is newly appointed to his post. Ozturk then visited container city in Kilis where Syrian citizens are staying. AA's director general, accompanied by Deputy Governor Ahmet Kartepe, also visited facilities such as health center and Damascus Mosque, and chatted with Syrian children.
Ozturk meets AA teams
Ozturk, who visited Syrian border and Oncupinar Border Gate, met AA teams working in the region. Ozturk met correspondent Sarp Ozer and cameraman Tolga Ciplak, who worked in Aleppo where fierce clashes are continuing, and listened to their impressions regarding the recent developments in Syria.
Ozturk stressed the difficulty of working in places like Syria, and said that their concerns were eased as AA team in the region had been trained as war correspondents.
Noting that AA teams worked along Syrian border throughout the Eid al-Fitr, Ozturk said that media used news stories, photos and footage published by AA teams. He thanked the teams for their contributions.
