SAKARYA
The Anadolu Agency (AA) has inaugurated a new regional office in the northwestern province of Sakarya.
The city, 150 km east of the country's financial hub Istanbul, has a great potential for journalism, AA Director General and Board Chairman Kemal Ozturk said on Friday.
"This potential will now become valuable for the whole world. Tourism and investment opportunities in this region are being followed closely," Ozturk said. "We have the ability to take stories related to this region and translate it to Arabic to service in the Middle East, and to English so it can reach the entire globe."
"We need strong news material for this. And our government has provided us with means to achieve just that," he said.
- "Voice of the people"
Ozturk said AA was determined to convey the most accurate news from within Turkey to the international community.
"We are trying to be the voice of the people. That's part of our founding philosophy, to make the voice of Anatolia heard around the world," he said.
"Till now, we have partially fulfilled our mission with what we have at hand, but this is not enough for us," Ozturk said. "In an environment where a global campaign against Turkey is being carried out, AA is motivated to proclaim Anatolia's voice."
