ANKARA
In a written statement released Monday, Dr. Gormez commented on the movie "Innocence of Muslims".
"Just as racism and segregation are considered to be hate crimes, so should insulting cultures and holy values of peoples," Dr. Gormez underlined.
"All provocations (as "Innocence of Muslims") should be regarded as hate crimes," Dr. Gormez stated.
"While the movie "Innocence of Muslims" is wicked, shabby, and provocative, the killing of individuals by Muslims in reaction to the movie can not be legitimized," Dr. Gormez noted.
"Islam never legitimates attacks on embassies at random and killing humans," Dr. Gormez stated.
Gormez's comments on "Innocence of Muslims" came after Muslims protested the movie in different parts of the world last week. Last Tuesday, the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three of his assistants were killed by assailants believed to have carried out the attack in protest of the movie "Innocence of Muslims".
