Arinc said in the meeting that hundreds of Syrian people fleeing cruelty by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in their country have been staying in Turkey, stating that Turkish government spent more than 200 million U.S. dollars for these people.
Congratulating the Turkish government on its humanitarian efforts, Otero said that Turkey kept its border open and it was a generous act.
Turkey has become a model for the world, she said, adding that she appreciated Turkey's efforts.
Arinc said that they felt deeply sad over what has happened in Syria. "Unfortunately we know that violence still continues and hundreds of people are killed every day there," he said.
Turkey has been conducting important works for end of violence in Syria through diplomacy, he added.
