ANKARA
Ankara Governor Alaaddin Yüksel said on Saturday that search warrants were issued for the assailants who mounted the rocket attack on the police house in Dikmen neighbourhood of the Turkish capital Ankara.
Terrorists launched at least two rockets at the police house (a hotel and social facility for policemen and their families) near police headquarters in Dikmen at about 21:30 local time on Friday night, following which no casualties were reported as the rockets only caused structural damages on the building.
At least 5,000 armed policemen started a manhunt when the assailants - Muharrem Karatas and Serdar Polat, both members of DHKP-C terrorist organization - were identified by means of security cameras only five minutes after the attack. One terrorist was killed and a second one was seriously wounded in a fire exchange.
Yuksel noted that the assailants were carrying fake ID's and added, one of the assailant, Karatas was the one who staged an attack to AK Party Headquarters with flame thrower in March.
Karatas also had six search warrants due to being a member of terrorist organization, Yuksel said.
Yuksel added, the other assailant, Polat had four search warrants for being a member of terrorist organization.
Addressing the leaders of non-governmental organizations in Turkey's eastern Malatya city earlier on Saturday, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had argued that anyone who dared to use such means to attack Turkey would definitely be addressed and get the retribution they deserve.
"Those who resort to such methods will definitely pay the price," Erdogan added.
