-Bilgi University decorates EP president with an honorary doctorate
ISTANBUL (AA) – May 29, 2012 - President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz was decorated with an honorary doctorate by Istanbul's Bilgi University.
Turkey's European Union Minister Egemen Bagis also attended the ceremony.
Bagis said that Schulz had always supported Turkey's democratization process, adding that Schulz, as EP president, was representing 500 million Europeans.
Schulz thanked Bilgi University for presenting the honorary doctorate.
He said that Turkey was a part of Europe, and expressed support to Turkey's EU membership.
