Nobel Peace Prize was conferred with a ceremony in the capital Oslo of Norway on Tuesday.
The Director-General of Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Ahmet Uzumcu received the award on behalf of the organization during a ceremony held at Oslo Municipal Building.
"OPCW has confirmed that more than 80% of the declared chemical weapons are annihilated until now. Besides, we also carry out extensive measures in order to prevent the production of such weapons again," Uzumcu said.
He also added that the award he was given to would be used for the yearly award fund of OPCW to protect the 2013 Nobel Prize heritage.
Thorbjorn Jagland, chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, handed the prize to the director-general.
Norwegian King V. Harald and Queen Sonya congratulated Uzumcu as well at the end of the ceremony.
