ANKARA
Ankara 13th High Criminal Court accepted an indictment prepared against retired Gen. Levent Ersoz regarding the death of former president Turgut Ozal.
Earlier in April, Public Prosecutor Kemal Cetin sent an almost 50-page indictment regarding the demise of Ozal to the court.
The court accepted the indictment, however, has not set a date for the trial.
The indictment accuses Ersoz as he might be involved in an assassination plot against the late president.
Ersoz was accused under Article 156 of the Turkish Penal Code which calls for life in prison for those who may have been involved in an assassination plot against Turkey's president.
Ozal died of alleged heart failure in 1993 at an Ankara hospital. Last year a further toxicologic study was carried out and some papers reminded there was not a conclusive report that he was poisoned.
