A plane suffering from apparent engine failure was forced to make an emergency landing in Istanbul on Tuesday.
According to officials at Ataturk International Airport, the Cathay-Pacific Boeing 777-367ER was flying from Milan, Italy to Hong Kong when it experienced a technical problem.
The plane was in Turkish airspace when the pilot asked for emergency landing permission, the unnamed airport source -- who spoke on condition of anonymity -- said.
The aircraft landed safely 5.30 p.m. local time [1530GMT], and it was towed to a hangar to be investigated for a technical problem.
No injuries or damage was reported; passengers were transferred to an airport terminal.
