BALIKESIR, Turkey (AA) - A goat was rescued on Thursday after falling into a pit and surviving for 20 days on food its shepherd dropped into the pit in Balikesir, northwestern Turkey.
The 6-month-old goat remained in the 20 meter deep pit, fed with grass by shepherd, Murat Gordul, who finally decided to ask for support to get the goat out.
Gordul appealed to the local gendarmerie, who, in return, called the AFAD, the official disaster management authority.
The rescue team managed to salvage the goat after an hour's work.
The shepherd expressed his gratitudes to the team, who delivered the goat safe and sound.
