ISTANBUL (AA) - The Governor of Istanbul Huseyin Avni Mutlu on Thursday midnight came together with Gezi Park protestors at the Dolmabahce Clock Tower Cafe in Istanbul.
Mutlu announced on Twitter that he was ready for meetings with the Gezi Park protestors and noted that he will be at the Dolmabahce Clock Tower Cafe at 00:15 hours and gave also his private phone number as an act of kindness.
The meeting between the governor and the protestors lasted about 5 hours, and following the meeting Mutlu said, "This was a very helpful meeting. They told me that they do not have an uncompromising position to stay there and continue. They were there for enough time and especially after the speech of Prime Minister Erdogan this evening, they felt that there was a positive attitude about their message."
Mutlu noted that he got an invitation from the protestors, "We finished the thing at the Gezi Park but from time to time we can make a picnic there and we want to see you among us."
Mutlu said that about 150 young people followed his invitation and added, "There are about 500 young people at the Gezi Park. I think they will evaluate this process well. And I see that this process will be happy for all of us."
Mutlu explained that they understand the young people and will continue to understand them and it's important that they had to be in a wide circle of dialog.
