ROME
Italian President Giorgio Napolitano on Wednesday held a dinner in honor of Turkish President Abdullah Gul at presidential palace, Quirinale in Rome.
Speaking at the dinner Gul thanked Italy for its support for Turkey's EU membership process and said, "We hope that the understanding and strategic insight of Rome will reflect on the European continent as well and we would unite our powers for a strong and prosperous Europe."
Gul said that on Thursday he would open the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center in Rome.
He also said that Turkey would try its best to deepen the Turkish-Italian relations in different areas.
President Gul on Thursday will also visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, built under the statue of Italy after World War I following an idea of General Giulio Douhet.
