ISTANBUL
Governor of Istanbul Huseyin Avni Mutlu on Thursday said that they would meet with Gezi Park activists in groups tonight.
In a message shared on Twitter, Governor Mutlu said that "we will meet with those activists willing to hold talks face to face at the Dolmabahce Saat Kule Cafe as of 24.00 hours. We will continue talking with them until morning if necessary."
Meanwhile, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will receive 8 artists and 2 names from Taksim Solidarity at the Official Residence after 23.00 hours as part of his talks related to the Gezi Park on Thursday.
Prime Ministry sources said that Chairman of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers (TMMOB) Eyup Muhcu and Spokesperson for the Neighborhood Associations Cem Tuzun will meet with Erdogan as the representatives of the Taksim Solidarity.
Artists Sunay Akin, Yavuz Bingol, Ceyda Duvenci, Halit Ergenc, Sertap Erener, Mahsun Kirmizigul, Nebil Ozgenturk and Ali Sunal will meet with Erdogan this evening.
Formerly, he had stated intervention was beside the point as of yet which did not mean there wouldn't be any in future times.
Mutlu had said there was not a plan of an intervention in 24 hours, noting that they would share how and in what way the intervention would take place if one would occur.
"Nobody needs to worry about being thrown out of their tents by security forces at 3 or 5 a.m. in the morning," Mutlu had added, emphasizing they might have told it to public opinion, too, if they'd have taken such a decision.
