ROME
Italian Parliament's lower wing, House of Representatives, adopted Istanbul Convention --a convention of Council of Europe on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence-- on Tuesday.
The convention was accepted unanimously by receiving 545 votes.
For full adoption, the convention should be accepted at the voting in Italian Senate too.
Istanbul Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence was adopted by the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers on April 7, 2011. It opened for signature on May 11, 2011 on the occasion of the 121st Session of the Committee of Ministers in Istanbul.
