STOCKHOLM
"Palestinian Friendly Award" was given this year to Turkish parliamentarian Mehmet Kaplan from the Green Party by the Palestine Solidarity Association of Sweden.
Kaplan was deemed worthy of the award for adopting the struggle of the Palestinian people for their rights under pressure as a lifestyle. The award was given in the "Solidarity with the Palestinian People" event held in the historical Immanuels Church, in Stockholm. Christian, Jewish and Muslim religion members gathered in the event and supported Palestinians with their songs or instruments.
Kaplan said that he was very happy to receive the award and it would be a step for new struggles.
The "Palestinian Friendly Award" was granted to former leader of Sweden's Leftist Party Lars Ohly, Prof. Mattias Gardel and Social Democrat Party Foreign Affairs Speaker Ann Linde in the previous years.
