Beirut
A group of Lebanese people staged a demonstration on Friday to support Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish government in Taksim Gezi Park incidents.
Gathering in front of the Turkish Embassy in Beirut, the group carrying Lebanese and Turkish flags, shouted slogans supporting the Turkish government and PM Erdogan upon Taksim Gezi Park protests held across Turkey following the attempts to demolish Gezi Park and uproot the trees.
President of the Lebanese-Turkish Association Zaher Sultan told AA that "Those uncomfortable with Turkey's growing profile of trade and economy are responsible for the destruction, havoc and uproar," regarding Taksim Gezi Park protests and the following violence and incidents.
A Lebanese demonstrator stated that he closely followed Premier Erdogan's domestic and foreign policy, saying "I hope Erdogan's policies will some day be applied in my country and the other Arab countries, too."
The group also delivered a letter of "support" to the Embassy officials to be conveyed to Turkish Premier Erdogan.
