BERLIN
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she hoped that Turkey and NATO would act with restraint against Syria.
Merkel's comments came only two days after Syrian artillery shells landed in south-eastern town of Akcakale killing 5 Turks and wounding 9 others.
Speaking at a meeting of her political party CDU in Rostock city on Friday, Merkel indicated that the UN Security Council failed to fulfill its duties in response to the fierce and wild clashes in Syria.
"I do hope that Turkey and NATO act with restraint against Syria so that the existing situation does not get more tense," Merkel underlined.
