Almost 17 million students and 800,000 teachers are present at schools on Monday after a three months of summer recess.
The winter holiday will be between January 28 and February 8, 2013, and the second term will begin on February 11, 2013.
The 2012-2013 education year will end on June 14, 2013.
The National Education Ministry will distribute 187 million school books to students and teachers free of charge.
The 2013-2014 school year will begin on September 16, 2013.
