ISTANBUL (AA) - September 3, 2012 - Kobi Farhi, who is a vocalist for well-known Israeli heavy metal group Orphaned Land, has applied for Turkish citizenship.
"I praise Turkey all the time abroad. As Turkey being important and special country, I desire to represent and advertise Turkey," Farhi told Anadolu Agency (AA) in an exclusive interview on Monday.
Stating that he had spent his childhood with Muslim and Christian children, Farhi said that he had grown up with Turkish culture.
Expressing that he liked Turkey because it welcomes all religions and cultures, Farhi stated that Arab countries and other Muslim countries should take Turkey as a model.
Farhi said that he had passed on his application form a few days ago, and was hopeful about receiving Turkish citizenship.
Orphaned Land is one of the most popular heavy metal group in Turkey. The group had even won a "peace and friendship" award for their contribution following the "Mavi Marmara" tragedy in 2010.
