MANISA, Turkey
Turkish police and gendarme held 17 people who were allegedly supporters of Daesh in an anti-terror operation early Friday in the western province of Manisa, police said.
The detainees are accused of being in contact with suspected Daesh affiliates and making propaganda to recruit members for the militant group.
Across the country, police have been carrying out anti-terror operations to apprehend suspected PKK, Daesh, and DHKP-C militants -- all three are designated terrorist organizations in Turkey.
More than 1,300 people have been detained in a recent wave of counter-terrorism raids in Turkey since the Daesh-suspected July 20 deadly blast in southeastern Sanliurfa province that killed 33 people, and subsequent attacks on security forces, some of which are claimed by the PKK and others are thought to be carried out by the group.
