Istanbul police launched an anti-terror operation against PKK suspects early Wednesday, arresting an unspecified number of people.
Police squads raided over 20 locations simultaneously in the Kucukcekmece district on the city’s European side, according to police sources.
Multiple suspects were taken into custody during the operation, backed by police helicopters.
The police did not specify how many suspects have been held, but the operation is ongoing. Police predict that the number of arrests could rise.
Turkey has been carrying out operations against the PKK – considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the EU and U.S. – inside and outside of the country since July 24.
