ANKARA
The issue of U.S. Patriot batteries sent to Turkey did not come up in talks between Turkish President Abdullah Gul and a member of the U.S. House of Representatives Armed Services Committee, Rob Wittman on January 29.
Turkish Presidency officials told the Anadolu Agency (AA) that Wittman and an accompanying delegation were received by President Gul on January 29 but that the issue of the Patriot batteries did not come up in that meeting.
Turkish Presidency's remarks came on Thursday after certain news reports that American Patriot batteries could not be activated due to Turkish bureaucracy and that Wittman held talks to overcome bureaucratic obstacles in Turkey.
