ZURICH
Head of Turkey's football governing body on Wednesday met with FIFA boss Sepp Blatter in Zurich, Switzerland.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Yildirim Demiroren said he paid a courtesy visit to Blatter after his election to the Turkish Football Federation, or TFF.
Demiroren said he briefed Blatter over the Turkish Federation's future plans, adding that Blatter underlined Turkish football's importance for the FIFA and the world football.
Demiroren said TFF's priority was to ease tensions in the Turkish football amid a match-fixing scandal that has implicated several premier division players and officials of clubs including 2010-2011 league champions Fenerbahce.
A disciplinary committee with the TFF has acquitted all clubs of allegedly being involved in the scandal, but imposed disciplinary measures on players and club executives.
A separate court trial is still underway where Fenerbahce's chairman, Aziz Yildirim, is the main suspect.
A prosecutor demanded the court to punish Yildirim, who has rejected charges, to a maximum 13 years and ten months behind bars.
