Rumi will be commemorated on the anniversary of his death known as "Seb-i Arus" (Reunion Night) with a ceremony in Istanbul at Ulker Sports Arena on Friday December 13.
According to a Turkish Ministry of Culture statement, the annual ceremony will be hosted by both the Ministry of Culture and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality on Friday night, December 13. The ceremony will commemorate the 740th anniversary of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, a prominent scholar who summarized his philosophy by the words, "raw I was, cooked well, burnt I got"
Ertem Sener, a well-known Turkish commentator will introduce the evening's programme which will consist of a sufi music concert by the master artist Sami Savni Ozer followed by a Whirling Dervishes ritual.
