At least 10 PKK terrorists were killed in two separate clashes in Turkey’s southeastern Hakkari province on Monday, the Turkish military announced.
According to a statement posted on the Turkish General Staff’s official website, two PKK terrorists were killed during operations in Hakkari’s Yuksekova district. Security forces also destroyed mines placed on a road and other explosives in the operation.
PKK militants also attacked Hakkari’s Semdinli 34th Border Brigade Command, the District Security Directorate and a Gendarmerie Command with long-barreled weapons. During the clashes, eight militants were also neutralized, it said.
Meanwhile, explosives weighing more than 100 kilograms were placed under a drainage with cables in Diyarbakir’s Lice province. In Hakkari’s Semdinli district, six improvised explosives were also destroyed that were placed under a bridge, the military said.
PKK militants also damaged wind turbines with explosives in Turkey’s southern Osmaniye province, the military added.
2 PKK terrorists killed in Diyarbakir operation
At least two PKK terrorists were killed in an operation in southeastern Diyarbakir province Monday, Turkish police sources said.
According to the sources, a group of terrorists attacked security forces with long-barreled weapons and improvised explosive devices in Baglar and Kayapinar districts. In the ensuing clashes, two terrorists were killed.
Turkish security forces have killed more than 2,000 PKK terrorists in operations inside Turkey since operations began in July 22, Turkish Interior Minister Selami Altinok said on Monday.
