Turkey: 44 local officials dismissed amid FETO probe

ANKARA

The Turkish Interior Ministry has dismissed 44 local officals from their posts Thursday in the wake of the July 15 coup attempt, the ministry has stated.

The ministry said in a statement that the dismissed personnel were linked to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO).

Led by U.S.-based Fetullah Gulen, FETO is accused of orchestrating Turkey’s July 15 coup plot as well as being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.

The July 15 defeated coup left 248 martyred, 2,193 others wounded.
