Turkish energy minister said that Turkey and Algeria agreed to extend current Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) contract for another 10 years.
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz, who is visiting Algeria, had a meeting with Algeria's Minister of Energy and Mines Youcef Yousfi.
After the meeting, Yildiz said that the meeting was fruitful, and Turkey extended its current 4 billion cubic meter LNG import contract with Algeria for another 10 years.
Replying to a question, Yousfi said that if there was an increase in natural gas production of Algeria, they could rise the volume of natural gas to 6 billion cubic meters for Turkey.
Turkey currently imports 4.4 billion cubic meters of LNG from Algeria a year. The import contract would expire in 2014 and now it was extended for another 10 years.
