ANKARA
Spain shares Turkey's concerns along its border with Syria, and calls on Syrian officials to respect territorial integrity of neighboring countries, while assuring Turkey to count on solidarity of ally countries, said a joint statement which was released after Turkey-Spain Intergovernmental Summit in Madrid on Tuesday.
The statement expressed pleasure over the momentum which commercial and economic relations gained, and confirmed that the trade volume between the two countries had the potential to exceed 10 billion euro in a short time.
Parties agreed to encourage establishment of joint initiatives in order to assess the opportunities presented by third country markets including Latin America and Africa, said the statement.
Spain confirmed Turkey's commitment in EU membership process, said the statement.
The statement also strongly condemned terrorism which is considered as the most important threat against international peace and security.
Parties also expressed willingness and commitment about developing cooperation in tourism, telecommunications and information society and renewable energy areas.
The statement stressed the importance of Alliance of Civilizations as well as the necessity of a permanent, comprehensive and fair solution in Cyprus.
