ANKARA
Turkey has condenmned Tuesday's car bombing in the Yemeni capital which attempted to kill the country's defense minister.
Releasing a written statement on Thursday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the assasination attempt on Yemen's Defense Minister Mohammed Nasser Ahmed, which left the official unharmed, but resulted in numerous casualties including civilians.
The statement said such an outrageous terrorist act, targeting Yemen's stability and peace, should not be permitted to disrupt the ongoing democratic transition process in the country.
"Turkey will continue to stand in solidarity with the brotherly Yemeni people and to contribute to the formation of an atmosphere of peace and prosperity in Yemen," the statement noted.
On September 11, Yemeni Defense Minister Mohammed Nasser Ahmed narrowly escaped assassination when a powerful car bomb hit his convoy as he travelled in Sanaa, killing at least 12 people.
