Turkey has so far delivered to the typhoon-hit Philippines humanitarian assistance comprised of 500 family tents, 5,125 blankets and 550 family kitchen sets, the country's Red Crescent Society said.
The Turkish Red Crescent team in Tacloban also delivered 14,000 packages of food to typhoon victims in Mayorga town.
The Red Cross Regional Coordinator Jennifer Chico, speaking to Anadolu Agency, said that Turkish team was one of the first international organizations to respond and reach the disaster region.
"When I heard about the distance between Turkey and Philippines I was fascinated because it is so good to know that there are somebody who think us from the far corner of the world," Maria Andrehandes, a survivor, said, adding that it is was impossible to come over particularly scarcity of food if it was not for the aid of international organizations.
