A senior member of one of Turkey’s opposition parties has applied to the Constitutional Court to have the result of the Nov. 1 general election annulled.
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) executive Ahmet Karatas made the individual application on Thursday.
Karatas’ submission complains that the election was not held under fair conditions.
The HDP applied to Turkey’s Supreme Election Board on Nov. 16, calling for the cancellation of the general election on the grounds that “they were not held in accordance with rules of fair, democratic, honest and equitable competition”.
The board rejected the appeal a day later.
In the election, the Justice and Development (AK) Party regained its single-party status, winning 317 seats in the 550-member Grand National Assembly.
