The agreement between P5+1 and Iran which curbs Iran's nuclear program "will certainly be a relief for the region," said Turkey’s Minister of Transportation Binali Yildirim.
The agreement between the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany, known as the P5+1, and Iran would relieve tension in the region, Yildirim said during a speech at an EXPO 2020 press conference in Turkey’s western city Izmir.
Emphasizing that sanctions on Iran are not ‘fair’ toward the Iranian people, Yildirim said, “While trying to keep a country under control with embargoes, millions of people suffer and become destitute.”
-Turkey bids on EXPO 2020
Izmir is one of the four candidate cities with a bid to host the EXPO 2020, which would be themed "New Routes to a Better World / Health for All."
“The goal is to show Turkey’s success in improving its health care system in the last 11 years, and to show strategies and techniques to other countries that might need support,” Yildirim said.
The EXPO 2020 executive committee is planning to create a 155 million euro budget with the purpose of helping developing countries take part in health care and social responsibility projects.
“Turkey should be a favorable nominee if the evaluations and considerations are made objectively,” Yildirim said about the bid.
