DIYARBAKIR, Turkey
A Turkish soldier was martyred and three others were injured in an attack by suspected Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants in southeastern Diyarbakir province, security sources said on Sunday.
Soldiers were guarding the construction site of a hydroelectric dam in Diyarbakir’s Kulp district when they came under rocket and gun attack, the sources added.
PKK has been designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU.
The PKK’s renewed campaign against the Turkish state has seen more than 50 security personnel martyred since a bombing linked to Daesh on July 20 in Suruc which killed 34 people.
