ANKARA
The 8th term meeting of Turkey-Tajikistan Intergovernmental Joint Economic Committee (JEC) held in Ankara with the attendance of Turkish Interior Minister Sahin and Tajikistan's Minister of Economic Development and Trade Sharif Rahimzoda on Friday.
Sahin said that the Turkey-Tajikistan JEC meeting covered all parts of bilateral relations, and there were important decisions taken in order to develop the economic and trade relations of Turkey and Tajikistan.
Sahin said that the two countries shared common values, so there had to be solidarity and cooperation in the fields of politics, economics and social issues.
He said that he hoped signing of the 8th term JEC protocol would speed up the cooperation process between Turkey and Tajikistan in many fields such as trade, tourism, transportation, health and energy.
Sahin mentioned the bilateral trade and economic relation of Turkey and Tajikistan and said that the trade volume between two countries rose consistently.
He said that the trade volume between Turkey and Tajikistan in the first nine months of 2012 was 436 million USD.
Furthermore, Turkish minister underlined that mutual investments need to increased.
Tajikistan's Minister Rahimzoda delivered a speech at the meeting and informed attendees about Tajikistan's economic figures.
He said in order to develop Tajikistan's economy, the private sector had to be improved.
Later on, both ministers signed the JEC 8th term protocol.
