Turkey's Directorate of Religious Affairs will hold a summit to bring Latin American Muslim leaders together in Istanbul from Nov.12-16.
“The First Latin American Muslim Leaders Religious Summit” will host 76 religious leaders from more than 40 countries,
"We believe that supporting Muslims around the world with religious education and services is a kindness campaign," said Turkey's top Muslim cleric Mehmet Gormez, speaking to The Anadolu Agency on Monday.
The summit will be joined by five religious organizations, including the Eurasian Islam Council, the African Religious Leaders Summit, the Meeting of European Muslims, the Balkans Meeting of Religious Directorate Leaders and the World Islam Scholars’ Peace, Moderation and Foresight Initiative.
"They want to cooperate with us in sharing and sending the message of Islam to all the world," Gormez said. Muslim communities living in Latin countries sought to take advantage of the knowledge and skills of Turkey's religious directorate, Gormez added.
The summit will be organized under the title "Building Our Tradition and Future."
"We will also discuss issues that concern Muslims in Latin American countries, religious services and cooperation opportunities," Gormez added.
