Turkey's crude oil pipeline transportation during last 24 years has reached 5.3 billion barrels.
Through four crude oil pipelines (COP) of Turkey, Iraq-Turkey COP, Ceyhan-Kirikkale COP, Batman-Dortyol COP, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan COP, 5.3 billion barrels crude oil has been transported since 1990.
Turkey had closed Kirkuk-Yumurtalik oil pipeline in 1990 after the UN Security Council imposed economic sanctions on Iraq. The importance of Kirkuk-Yumurtalik pipeline during Iraq war between 2003 and 2007 had declined again and during five those years, Turkey mostly used Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan COP.
The highest amount of crude oil which was transported in 2009 was 485 million 475 thousand barrels.
429 million 181 thousand barrels crude oil was transported through pipelines in 2012.
