ISTANBUL
Cansen Basaran-Symes has been elected the new chair of Turkey's top business association, TUSIAD, on Thursday after her predecessor decided to not run for presidency.
Haluk Dincer, former chair of the association ,who was elected to the top post in the extraordinary general assembly session in June last year, recently said he had no intention of being a candidate in the elections.
Bagging 174 out of the 176 votes, Basaran-Symes thanked the members for their support in her speech and requested them to assist the board during her term.
Founded in 1971, Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Association or the TUSIAD is considered as Turkey's top business association. It is an independent, non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting public welfare through private enterprise.
