Turkish Airlines (THY) was announced Tuesday as the title sponsor of the European tour event in Turkey's Antalya province between November 7-10.
The US$7 million award winning tournament would be played under the name of "THY Open Championship", to which World Number One Tiger Woods would also feature, according to Turkish Airlines' statement.
Woods stated he grew impatient to visit Turkey and said, "I had a great time during my first visit to Turkey. Turkish Airlines, the Turkish Golf Federation and the fans who came to watch made it a really special event and I’m looking forward to play there once again”.
President of Turkish Golf Federation Ahmet Agaoglu noted his gladness to host Woods in Turkey. "It's an honor to host the best golf player of the world, again in Turkey. We are very excited of Turkey's support to the project and look forward to show Turkey's high level home ownership, again, via such sport activities in world standards".
Chief Marketing Officer at THY Faruk Cizmecioglu stated that they were glad to support the tournament.
The 2013 Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup Final will conclude in Antalya at the same time as the Turkish Airlines Open. Winner of the tournament will have the chance to partner with Tiger Woods during Turkish Airlines Open.
