Ankara (AA) -Turkey's EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis on Saturday called on the European Commision (EC) not to misinterpret Taksim Gezi Park protests.

"Every statement made without understanding the developments and process may cause unintended consequences," said Bagis.
Bagis underscored that freedom of thought and freedom of assembly were as strong as ever before adding Ministry of Interior launched an investigation into police intervention in Taksim Gezi park protests.
The European Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fule’s spokesperson Peter Stano made a statement saying "The European Commission is concerned about the recurring clashes between police and demonstrators in Istanbul. We condemn all excessive and disproportionate use of force."
