ANKARA
Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek met on Friday Kazakhstan's Astana Governor Imangali Tasmagambetov in Ankara.
Speaking to reporters prior to the meeting, Cicek said that he was proud of Kazakhstan's achievements as much as a Kazakh.
Defining the meeting as brothers' gathering, "The relation between our two countries is a relation that brothers have, and it has been getting strength in a good way," said Cicek.
Meanwhile, Astana's governor Tasmagambetov said that he appreciated with Turkey's hospitality.
Tasmagambetov said that Turkey had been assisting their country since Kazakhstan declared its independence in 1991.
Cicek meets counterpart from Turkmenistan
Cicek met with Turkmenistan's Parliament Speaker Akca Nurberdiyeva and an accompanying delegation in Ankara.
Speaking to reporters while meeting Nurberdiyeva, Cemil Cicek said that "as the parliaments of two brotherly nations, we need to get into close cooperation".
"Turkey and Turkmenistan could cooperate in international platforms as well," Cicek stressed.
"Close cooperation between our parliaments is crucial for our countries and regional peace," Cicek underlined.
"The cooperation protocol we will sign between our parliaments today is highly important for mutual share of knowledge and experience, friendship, peace and brotherhood," Cicek also said.
Nurberdiyeva, in her part, said that Turkey was the first country to recognize Turkmenistan's independence.
"We have brotherly relations with Turkey and want to carry them further," Nurberdiyeva stressed.
Cicek and Nurberdiyeva later signed a "Cooperation Protocol between parliaments".
Meanwhile, Nurberdiyeva met with Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag in Ankara earlier in the day.
