ISTANBUL
One of France’s most important theater festivals will host three Turkish plays at a major international festival in Paris starting this weekend.
Three Turkish pieces – Persona Non Grata, Aalst and Magic Tree – will run as part of Chantiers d’Europe, organized by Theatre de la Ville according to the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts on Wednesday.
Directed by Ceren Ercan, Persona Non Grata tells a story of a relationship between a Turkish woman and an Egyptian man and will be performed on June 27.
Cengiz Ozek’s Magic Tree – a piece of traditional Turkish puppet theatre – will be take place on June 20 and 21.
Aalst – a Poland-Turkey co-production – is a drama about two murderers who are also lovers. The play will be performed on June 13 and 14.
Productions from Italy, Poland, Portugal and Greece as well as Turkey will featured in Chantiers d’Europe.
