All of the Turkish dailies covered the statements of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who instructed the Turkish Police Force "not to have mercy on anyone disobeying traffic rules" as daily HURRIYET headlined. Erdogan said, "No privilege will be made to anyone, regardless of their title and all traffic rules will be implemented. I'll follow this issue closely," in his speech he delivered at the opening of the Traffic Safety Platform.
"Citizens can act as informers in traffic" stated daily MILLIYET and "notice with photograph" headlined daily TURKIYE describing the new draft where citizens violating traffic rules could be fined if the act is documented with a photo or a video and sent to the Turkish National Police by any citizen. People who succeed in escaping the traffic surveillance cameras or traffic police can be caught by other citizens. A 10 percent decrease in accidents is predicted if the draft is passed, according to dailies.
-Wise men announced-
Turkish dailies covered the announcement of the names of the 63 "wise men and women" who would contribute to solution of the Kurdish issue. "63 shoulders burdened with hope" read the main headline of SABAH referring to the committee composed of authors, journalists, artists, academicians and representatives of NGOs. "The shift of wise begins" headlined daily MILLIYET referring to the committee who would work to solve the Kurdish issue for a month. "63 wise people to seven regions" added daily ZAMAN defining the structure of the committee where 9 people from each seven geographical regions of Turkey were selected and one president and one secretary are present in the representation group of each region.
The wise men and women are assigned by the government and will assist in solving the Kurdish issue. Although their duties are yet to be clearly defined, it is widely understood that they will work as a PR team to communicate the solution talks to public.
-BDP delegation's 4th visit to Imrali-
Dailies also covered the fourth visit of the delegation composed of Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) lawmakers to the jailed head of PKK serving his prison term in Imrali island. "They will withdraw quietly" headlined daily RADIKAL stating the critical 10 days in the process and discussions of withdrawing quietly. "I hope not even a drop of blood would be shed during the development of the (solution) process. No one should hurt each other," quoted daily TURKIYE referring to the jailed terrorist head Ocalan's statements passed on with the delegation.
