Turkish dailies on Wednesday covered the funeral ceremonies of coal miners who died in an explosion which was caused by methane gas leakage in Turkey's northwestern province of Zonguldak on Monday, Turkish General Staff released an explanation regarding the "original documents" as they denied reports, most of the parts of Turkey is still buried under snow which caused disturbance in the daily life, an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 shook Aegean and Marmara region on Tuesday and lastly, the political parties' parliamentary group meetings and quotes from Turkey's biggest parties' leaders. Anadolu Agency does not verify these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.
Most of the Turkish dailies covered the funeral ceremonies of coal miners. Miners died when a sudden release of methane gas affected them in Kozlu coal mine in Turkey's northwestern province of Zonguldak on Monday.
Daily HURRIYET headlined, "TSK: No coup documents", and published that Turkish General Staff refuted the news in several press organs, which claimed that the original documents of all evidences regarding Balyoz (Sledgehammer - coup plot) coup case were found in General Staff. General Staff said in a written statement claims were not true. The judges of the case published the details of their verdict on Tuesday. The verdict says original documents, of which digital copies found in particular places, were provided by the General Staff. General Staff says that does not mean all the evidences were provided by them.
Dailies covered the heavy snowfall which paralyzed the daily life in many parts of Turkey. Dailies shared photos from parts of Turkey when youngsters enjoy their time while playing snowball and on the other hand, photos of car crashes due to icing on the ground and closed roads and blocked villages due to heavy snowfall.
Almost all Turkish dailies covered the speeches of the leaders of Turkey's largest political parties at their parliamentary group meetings which was held on Tuesday. Daily ZAMAN headlined, "The period was sabotaged already, they attacked with 100 people", referring to the clash with PKK terrorists and the talks being hold with the head of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Ocalan at the Imrali island prison. One soldier was killed and two others were slightly wounded in a clash with PKK terrorists in Cukurca town of the southeastern Hakkari province. Soldiers opened fire on a crowded group of terrorists who were getting prepared to stage an attack on Karatas Gendarmery Station in Cukurca town near the border of north of Iraq on Monday evening. Soldiers killed 14 PKK terrorists, while one soldier was killed and two others were slightly injured in the clash, added the office. Furthermore, the daily stated that the attack was held when the negotiations process was initiated by the Turkish government in Imrali island with terrorist head Abdullah Ocalan.
